Some background on me.

The special education teacher - Justin Giles

Biography

I am a high school (grades 9-12) Special Education teacher at Conestoga High School in the Tredyffrin-Easttown School District in Berwyn, PA. This fall will start my 8th year of teaching (all in Special Education). I earned my Bachelor's degree in Special Education K-12 and Elementary Education K-6 from Kutztown University in 2011 and my Masters degree in Education - Classroom Technology from Wilkes University in 2015. I have continued my post-graduate studies at West Chester University the last few years.

Educational Philosophy

One quote that has driven and built a foundation in me to see beyond myself and work with all students regardless of their ability level or distractions would be: “The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles, but to irrigate deserts.” - C.S. Lewis. This isn't referring to students as "deserts", what I believe it is referring to is the "learning environment" and making a situation or circumstance that typically isn't conducive to learning just that. I want students who are "in the desert", when it comes learning, whether it be because of their own decisions, disabilities, other policies or distractions, become life long learners.
